Breaking News: Police Detain Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Published

on

PDP has condemned the arrest and detention of its member, Senator Ademola Adeleke. The party in a statement released by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, says the arrest is a recipe fro crisis

Read the full statement below

This is highly provocative, an invitation to anarchy and recipe for a very serious crisis not only in Osun but also in the judiciary and our polity as a nation.

The arrest and detention of Senator Adeleke is a direct act of violence against our laws, the institution of the judiciary and the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

This is part of the grand plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to coerce Senator Adeleke to relinquish the mandate that was freely given to him by the people of Osun state, which was further established by the election petition tribunal.

The plot is to drag Senator Adeleke before an ostensibly compromised magistrate court, over the same issues of alleged forged school testimonial that is already before the Federal High Court, with a view to using such corridor to secure a stampeded trial and hurried conviction, and put him out of circulation, over trump-up charges.

The heinous calculation by the APC is to ensure that Senator Adeleke is not free to be sworn in as governor of Osun state as they know he will surely obtain justice and retrieve his stolen mandate at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.

The police arrested Senator Ademola on the guise of an invitation despite the direct orders of the Federal High Court, restraining it or its agents from arresting and detaining him on account of statement of result and testimonial duly issued by the Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede, pending the determination of the originating summons pending in the court.

Senator Adeleke, as a law-abiding citizen, honoured an invitation by the police only for him to be arrested and detained in a dingy facility in Maitama, in direct affront to the order of the Federal High Court.

The PDP holds that any arraignment of Senator Adeleke in a magistrate court, for a matter that is already being heard by the Federal High Court, is a calculated plot to cause crisis in the judicial system, enmesh the matter in unnecessary controversy as a pathway to truncate the course of justice in his matter.

The PDP therefore demands forthwith, the immediate and unconditional release of Senator Adeleke by the police.

This demand is predicated on fears already in the public space that there are plots by certain elements to poison him in detention.

The PDP therefore cautions those playing the script of the APC with regard to Senator Adeleke to retrace their steps and allow the people of Osun state to move ahead with their preferred governor. Nothing, not even these heinous plots, will subvert this reality.

“Using a minor as a trap to gather evidence is a criminal offence” – Actor, Yomi Fabiyi

Published

on

Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi has vehemently stated that just as molesting a minor is a criminal offense, so does it apply to using a minor as a trap to gather evidence for one’s claim.

This is coming after the actor defended Baba Ijesha and requested solid proof to show that he molested the 14-year-old girl as he was accused of.

Upon the release of the CCTV footage which has gone viral on the social media space, the actor has dragged both the alleged molester and people who used the minor as a medium to gather proof as defaulters of the law, who ought to face the wrath of the law accordingly.

Sharing the CCTV footage, he wrote:

“IT IS CRIMINAL TO MOLEST A MINOR or USE A MINOR AS A TRAP TO GATHER EVIDENCE.

It is disturbing and unfortunate viewing the images of the released CCTV footage of a minor been sexually abused by a senior colleague, Mr. Lanre Omiyinka a.k.a Baba Ijesha.

There is no excuse for this act. I condemn this act, it is embarrassing and disappointing.

I have carefully wait for reliable options before jumping to a conclusion as done in a civilized society, a stance a handful misconstrued as supporting the suspect, it is a shame a handful in Nigeria still engage in social media recklessness in the name of the social media age.

NOWHERE HAVE I SUPPORTED OR CONDONE SUCH, someone just places the idea and many without caution jumped on it. If you are not enlightened, SEEK KNOWLEDGE.

The only person free from arrest and prosecution is the young lady. Several red lines were crossed, IGNORANCE is never an excuse. The key question every honest person should be asking is, “if the girl was your child, can you make her go through such trauma again in the name of gathering evidence?

Where are the social services and domestic violence units in Lagos State? Shelve press release and sentiments, swing into action.

The law is sacrosanct and we all can agree a lot more needs to be done TO PROTECT CHILDREN IN NIGERIA. I am sad, we have failed many innocent children and it is time we rise to this challenge, THE WORLD IS WATCHING.

Every Nigerian who honestly feels for the poor girl should take to the street in a peaceful protest, demand arrest of all connected to this ugly image, it is a cause worth risking everything for, do it for humanity and every innocent child.

However, sentiment should never be an excuse to abuse the rights of every suspect or persons connected, that is the only way to achieve peace, fairness, justice, and development. Thanks to the Lagos Police Commissioner and officers for their meticulous investigation and efforts so far. A society patient to balance a story seldom gets misled or stands with lies. The media are doing a good job too. We want a safer Nigeria for every child.

Thank you

Yomi Fabiyi
Actor/Human Rights Ambassador”
